When you create an account we collect your email address and the username you choose. As you use Komo we collect content you create (events, messages, photos, profile fields) and basic usage data (device type, app version, error logs) to keep the app working. A friend request stores how it became possible — the plan, chat, link or plus-one it came from — and nothing else about that context. How friendships and your feed work: https://komoapp.net/legal/trust.
You can RSVP to some events from a browser, without creating an account, by verifying a phone number with a one-time code we text you. We store that phone number and the name you enter to identify you as a guest and to send you the messages described in 'SMS messages and consent' below. Hosts and other attendees see the name you enter — never your phone number. If you later create a Komo account with the same number, your guest RSVP history can be linked to your account.
Komo uses your device location to show events nearby and to plot the map. We never store a precise location history — only the coarse area you actively pan to is cached server-side, and only briefly. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
We use your information to operate the service: showing relevant events, delivering messages, securing your account, and improving the product. We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers.
By starting a web RSVP or otherwise providing a phone number, you consent to receive text messages from Komo: a one-time verification code, a reminder the day before an event you RSVPed yes to, and — on a plan that collects money — a receipt each time you're charged, a true-up notice once a host enters actual costs, and a payment reminder before a due date. These are transactional messages tied to the plan you're part of, not marketing. Reply STOP to any Komo text to opt out of future messages, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies: typically one verification code, one reminder the day before an event, and — on a plan that collects money — one text per charge, true-up or payment reminder. We do not share your mobile number or your opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Your username, profile photo, bio, and the public events you host or attend are visible to other users. Direct messages and private chats are visible only to participants.
We rely on a small number of vendors to host the service (database, file storage, push delivery, SMS delivery, error monitoring). They process data only to provide their service and are bound by contract from using it for any other purpose.
Account data is retained until you delete your account. Deleting your account from Settings removes your profile, your hosted events, your messages, and your media within 30 days. Guest phone numbers are retained only for as long as needed to support the events you RSVPed to; email us to request earlier deletion. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics may be retained longer.
An event's Film Roll (the shared photo gallery from that night) automatically fades 30 days after it's revealed: the original photos are permanently deleted from our storage and cannot be recovered. A small thumbnail stays as a memory of who was there.
Komo offers no subscriptions or in-app purchases today. Purchases may be offered in future and will be described here, including what payment data they involve, when they are.
If you report a user, message, event, or photo, we collect what you submit (the reason and any details) along with the content being reported, and use it only to review and act on the report. Reports and the identity of the reporter are kept confidential from the person being reported.
You can access, correct, or export your data by emailing us. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone. If you live in a jurisdiction with additional rights (GDPR, CCPA), you can exercise them by contacting us.
Komo is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.
On a plan that collects money, the host is the merchant and their Stripe account processes the charge — your card or bank account details go to Stripe, never to Komo. What we do store: the cost items and amounts you're part of, the caps and consent you agreed to and when, the actual charges and their status, and any receipts sent to you. This is the same evidence bundle used to answer a dispute if you or a host raises one — see 'Disputes' in our Terms.
Paying a share, saving a card, or collecting money as a host is restricted to users 18 and older, regardless of the general minimum age above.
If we make material changes to this policy we'll surface them in-app before they take effect. The 'Last updated' date below the title reflects the latest revision.
